Easy to make Valentine’s Day Decorations – DIY last minute
I just love to hang up hearts. They look pretty cool on the entrance door or in your living room and add so much flair.
Now the following hearts look awesome, but I came up with an easier way to make a pretty heart fast and easy.
1. Valentine’s heart made with filler paper
This is what you need:
- Posterboard or carton
- Glue-All or Tacky Glue
- pink tissue paper or filler paper
- scissors, a pencil, small brush
Preparation:
Start by drawing a heart the size you want it to be on the poster board with a pencil.
Use a small round bowl or a glass (2-3 inches in diameter) and trace the shape of it on the tissue paper. Lay at least 5 layers on top of each other, then cut it out. You will need a lot of them.
Apply glue only on a small section of your cardboard heart.
Apply the paper rounds on the wet glue, using a pencil and twisting the paper rounds onto the wet glue.
Evenly tight ‘twist’ the paper rounds onto the heart. Apply the papers without a gap.
And this is how it is supposed to look when you are done with applying all the filler paper rounds.
Add a pretty ribbon on the back of the heart so you can hang it up and you are done with this easy project.
This took me about 1 hour to make from the beginning to the end. I love it.
Decorate your entrance door with it or hang it over the bed – you will find a good spot for it.
2. Valentine’s heart made with plastic flower heads
Change the look of a room with some funky Valentine’s Day Decor. And you can use them again next year or for other occasions. So store them carefully in a box.

This hanging flower heart is made out of a lot of plastic flowers. Just cut the heads off the flowers and hot glue them on a cardboard heart template.
Use different colors, the flow of colors makes this heart a real focal point. It looks great with or without the arrow going through it.
Love this one – this is such a focal point. I found this idea from www.abeautifulmess.com on Pinterest.
3. Valentine’s Heart made with self-made paper flowers
source: http://www.meeganmakes.com
This heart is made out of crepe paper. Of course, that means you need to know how to make roses out of crepe paper. You can find a tutorial at “whatmeeganmakes.com’, it is actually pretty simple.
Make enough roses to cover the whole cardboard heart template, add a ribbon to hang it up, and wow. It looks fantastic anywhere if you decide to hang it up inside or outside.
You don’t have time to make these beautiful hearts for Valentine’s Day but you desperately want one?
You can also buy hearts if you don’t have the time to make them yourself and you can always use them for other occasions like Birthday Parties.
How about a heart garland? Or different sizes of hearts for decoration purposes? Or gift tags made out of hearts?

5. Table Decorations for Valentine’s Day

This table centerpiece is so pretty and colorful. And so easy to make. Check if you have a cute box at home, put a layer of styrofoam inside, and poke the plastic flowers into the styrofoam. Looks great and will last forever. I love it, especially if the flowers are mainly from one color family.
And this centerpiece is even easier to make. Use a pretty vase and get a bunch of flowers. I added some glitter with heart balloons.
Use a pretty tray or a table runner and add candles or hearts, or both. Be creative and use whatever you find in your storage and what fits your mood.
For Valentine’s Day I am all pink and yes, pink is my favorite color anyway. The Dollar Store is a great find for budget-friendly accessories for Valentine’s Day.
You are inviting guests for Valentine’s Day? With this funky table runner, pink candles, and pink flowers the table is set up for a happy dinner. You can also make the table runner out of paper and draw or write a message on it.

6. Wall / Curtain ideas
source: http://www.joann.com
Wow, I love this flower curtain. This is really cool and looks so romantic. It certainly takes some time to put it all together if you make your own crepe paper roses.
Of course, it will be faster to make, if you buy the flowers. Use hot glue to glue them onto the ropes or use pretty ribbons. The wooden branch is spray-painted, or you just leave it natural. Depends on your decor and your taste.
And you don’t need to take it down after Valentine’s Day. It is such a romantic focal point if it fits your furniture. Keep it up.
This is the much easier version of a flower curtain. Just cut some hearts out or buy heart stickers at the Dollar store and stick/glue them on a pretty ribbon. Looks pretty and is a nice add-on to a plain curtain.
