7 best drills for easy DIY Projects to get you started
No need to have any special skills to use a drill, you just need to get comfortable with it.
If you have never used a drill, then come along with me and I show you what to buy (respectively what kind of drill you need) and how to use it.
I wrote this review, because I needed to buy a drill and I only found reviews and recommendations for heavy-duty drill drivers. This is why I went out shopping, getting all the information I was interested in, drilling and checking them out.
7 best drills for easy DIY Projects
A drill is a tool primarily used for making round holes or driving fasteners. It is fitted with a bit, either a drill or driver, depending on application, secured by a chuck. Drills vary widely in speed, power, and size.

So, let’s get started with 7 best cordless Drills for easy DIY projects
What kind of drill should you buy?
There are many different drills on the market and I have checked the ones I like the most and which fit into my budget.
For the projects I am doing, I need something easy and reliable to operate.
And I don’t want to spend a lot of money either.
Who should use these drills?
I was keeping my eyes on light weight drills, because I don’t have the strength of a man to hold it for a longer period of time. This is why this review is majorly directed towards women or people who want an easy to operate and lightweight tool.
The main factor you should choose your drill for is:
- How easy is the drill to operate
- How easy is the forward and reverse switch to handle?
- Is the handle grip soft and comfortable
- Can you easily reach the trigger with your index finger
- How easily can you twist the chuck to remove the drill bits
- It should be cordless for easy handling
These are the factors I have compared with each other:
- Battery power
- Drilling speed
- Weight
- Warranty
So here are the drill / drivers I have been checking out. All of them have good quality and will get the job done easily:

How do you operate a drill
1. Unpack your device and
2. recharge the battery according to the instructions, it may take from 1 hour to 6 hours to charge fully.
3. Open the chuck (rotate clockwise) and put the drill in forward moving position.

4. Fit the drill bit into the chuck. The drill bit should fit firmly and straight into the chuck.
5. Tighten the chuck (rotate counterclockwise) and you are all done.
5. Replacing a drill bit: loosen the chuck by rotating it counterclockwise by hand. You can also use the forward and backward speed to open up the drill chuck. You have to hold on to the chuck though.

Drill with steady pressure.
The drill should be held steadily when pushing it unto the material you’re drilling.
The right bit will bore through the material with no need for an extra push on your part at all.

My favorite pick is the Bosch drill driver because I love how it lays in my hand and how easy it is to operate.
I have been using my husband’s Black and Decker and it is such a difference because it is heavy and it is not so easy to change drill bits.
But, the most important thing for you is, how you like to handle it.
Is it easy to exchange drill bits, is it light weight enough for you and do you reach the trigger with your index finger?
All the other specifications are very similar.

It’s good to learn that you should keep one battery charged when wanting to use a drill for a project. My wife and I are wanting to renovate our house and we were wondering how we could make sure the kitchen gets done correctly. I’ll be sure to tell her that we should look for a drilling service that knows how to keep their drills charged.
