Class B Motorhomes are small and easy to drive. If you don’t need a lot of space and rather spend your time outside, this is a great option for being very flexible. Should you buy a new or used RV?
Depending on how much money you can spend, I would personally buy a slightly used one. A lot of new RV’s come with smaller to bigger problems and buying used, these problems are normally resolved in the first year. No matter how old the RV is you want to buy, have it checked by an RV inspector (nrvia.org) to be sure your investment is a good one.
If you buy a used RV, you can save a lot of money. Under normal circumstances the depreciation of an RV is over 20 % in the first year, depending on the demand of course. Right now the demand is high, so this could be different in 2021/2022.
Should you rather buy a bigger or smaller RV?
Well, we rented a couple of Class C RV’s when we started going on road trips. They were all around 23 feet long and it was a good beginner size for 2 adults and one child. Space is of course limited, but for the three of us it was manageable.
Now, years later and only just the two of us leftover, we bought an 18 ft. Travel Trailer. We bought small because we wanted to store it at our house, and we couldn’t store a bigger unit. The situation has changed and now we wish we would have gone a little bigger for more comfort. Also, our dog uses a lot of space. So it is time again to make some adjustments.
