Top 5 tips on how to remodel your camper
Is your camper old and dated? Does it look so dark and uninviting? Do you feel it really is time for a quick update now? The only problem is you don’t know where to start? Start with the 5 Best Tips to Remodel your Camper and your Camper is going to look great.
Don’t worry, I can help you out because I was facing the same problem last year when we bought our old camper. Our “FunFinder” is over 10 years old and was no fun anymore, especially on the inside.
I had to change the look of it straight away – I couldn’t wait to start to paint immediately. Now we are so happy about how it turned out. And it wasn’t really hard to do. Look at it yourself:
If you need some ideas on where to start with your own camper, check out my Top 5 Tips to Remodel a Camper in a short afternoon.
And having fun doing it.

Start right here! I have updated our camper within a week and I am sharing with you the easiest and fastest steps with the biggest impact.
Check out the top 5 things to remodel your camper:
Step 1 is the easiest one
and makes the biggest impact on the look of your camper. Buy good interior paint and refresh your walls. If you spend a little more money on the paint, you will only need to apply one coat.
And because camper walls are not big, you will be done in the afternoon.
Select a nice bright color, a light blue, a light rose or light green, they all work well and brighten the inside up. If you have problems deciding on the right color scheme, here are some examples: How to find the right color scheme for your RV/Travel Trailer
There is no need to remove the wallpaper because it is normally glued onto the cardboard and removing it might ruin the walls. So don’t do it.
However, taking the wallpaper border off is definitely suggested and was no problem at all. It came off easily, if you have a problem taking it off, use deglosser or vinegar.
For painting the walls, just use a medium size – or even better – a small paint roller to get all these small wall areas easily painted.
If your camper is on the smaller side like ours, this job is done in no time.
Step 2 is the fastest one if you
paint the yellowish-looking ceiling with a fresh white coat. It makes such a difference when the ceiling looks white and clean.
Use regular paint to paint the ceiling, there is no need to buy extra ceiling paint. Just use a fresh and bright white, don’t use any yellow whites or white grays, use a medium size roller and roll the paint in one direction.
Don’t stop in between, make sure to paint the ceiling nice and evenly. You probably won’t even need to use a ladder and will be done in a couple of hours.
Step 3 takes a little longer
if your floor is dated and old. But it is so easy to install, therefore it is actually a no-brainer.
Use self-adhesive peel-and-stick vinyl planks in a light color and just lay them on top of your old vinyl floor.
The vinyl planks bond easily and look great if you lay them in a pattern. I used white tiles and staggered them. You can try different patterns before you glue them down to be sure you like them the best. And it looks awesome, it really freshens up the whole atmosphere.
Here is a picture of the pattern I used. Pretty simple to do if you have a carpet knife, a measure, and a level to cut the tiles straight.
This is all you need to get this job done – and maybe a little endurance.
Of course, there are many more patterns and colors you might want to consider for your Camper.
I used white because our camper is small and I like it bright and colorful, but you have to clean it more often.
Step 4 is the biggest job if you
update your kitchen cabinets.
Are your kitchen cabinets dark and dated? Consider painting them in a light gray or in pretty blue color.
And the best thing is that you don’t even need to sand and prime the cabinets if you follow my tutorial. This saves you so much time and paint has such an impact on the look of your camper.
I painted all of my cabinets and doors within 2 days. The first day I cleaned them with deglosser and applied two coats of paint and let them dry overnight.
On thesecond day I applied the top coat various times, which protects the paint perfectly from scratches and chips. So easy to do and looks fantastic.

Step 5 is pretty and fast if you
exchange fabrics. Does your couch have stains and spots? Does the fabric look old and dated? Mine had stains and looked old and not very attractive anymore.
The easiest and fastest action is to cover it up with a pretty fabric or fitted sheet. Add some happy throw pillows with a colorful pattern and it looks great.
Either use self-adhesive velcro stripes to fix the fabric onto the back of the couch or staple the fabric if there is an option to do so.
You are going to love the fresh look of your couch. And the fabric is easy to remove and washable if you use velcro stripes.
Just take it off, wash it, and put it back on again. Perfect if you have kids and pets.
But wait, there is more!

I also removed all the curtains and valances. The only thing I kept on the windows are the blinds for privacy.
But removing the curtains added so much more light and it also looks so much better now.
Maybe consider removing or exchanging your curtains with a fresh and light fabric.
Buy them ready to mount at your local Walmart, Target, or Ikea. You just need to hang them up.
