WALLPAPER PANELS
1. Wallpaper Panels for beginners / Accent walls bedroom
Wallpaper is the fastest and easiest way to make a huge impact in a room. And you don’t even need to wallpaper a whole room, you can add accents just by using a couple of panels.
Here is a bedroom makeover with 2 panels of floral wallpaper that adds so much more excitement to this room.
Just use the same color scheme in the wallpaper, the curtain, and the bedding. This is an easy accent wall idea for bedrooms.

Or add a more neutral wallpaper with a pretty pattern behind your headboard.
2. Wallpaper a whole wall
MORE WALLPAPER as an accent
If you don’t like the idea of just adding a panel and you are more for wallpapering the whole wall, sure, start by trying it out in a bathroom or powder room.
Use peel and stick wallpaper (1-2 rolls are probably enough). Small walls are easy to wallpaper if you have never done this before. A very good room for practicing wallpapering and an easy accent wall idea for bathrooms.
Here are some impressions and wallpaper choices:

3. Use paint to add accents
PAINT to add an accent
Creating a fun wall with paint is so easy and can be very affordable. I like to check out mis-tinted paints at my local paint store and sometimes I can get a great bargain on a paint color that looks awesome in my house. Like the teal wall in my entry. I love it. And after a while, I added another accent with a yellow paint color, and this is how it looks now. There are of course many more accent wall paint pattern ideas on Pinterest to find.

4. Use stencils to add a pattern
STENCILS can be used on walls and floors
In the meantime, I have a collection of stencils at hand. And when I have my creative time, I use them wherever I feel they would add some depth to a wall or a floor.
So don’t be shy, add a pretty stencil to walls, backsplash, or even the floor. And it is so easy to just paint over it whenever the time has come for another change.

PHOTO COLLAGE in the hallway or living room
There are of course many more ideas that you can add to your house or apartment. Especially if you have a lot of artwork, posters, and photographs you want to show instead of hiding them somewhere in a closet. Make a wall collage with your artwork and prints for your living room accent wall ideas:

Just make sure you stay in the color scheme of your room and you don’t have too many different styles and frames that would make it look just too busy. You want to create a cohesive look that is pleasant for your eyes.
Use Command strips to hang up your posters or lightweight pictures. It is so easy and you won’t make any holes in your walls (perfect for rentals). And no need for drilling and hammering.
If you don’t have any artwork that looks good together, here are some very reasonable prints you could frame and arrange together on a wall:
6. More artwork that stands alone
ART WORK
If you have a house or apartment with high walls or a big empty wall in your living or dining room, you can definitely hang up a statement artwork. I have a huge artwork from my friend Eva, she painted it and I absolutely love it. I actually have a couple of her works and it fits with all of my furniture.
Now, since we live in our new house, I have a lot of possibilities to hang them up because our walls are pretty high and I painted the walls a nice warm white. If you choose white as your wall color, you have almost no restrictions on what to hang up on your walls.
Here is how that looks now:

WALLPAPER MURALS if you know how to wallpaper
Because it can get a little tricky (especially if the walls of your home aren’t really straight) to get the mural up right, but it looks soooooo good.
Make sure that the wall is clean, grease- and dust-free. My last mural came down a couple of weeks after I hung it up. I guess I didn’t do a good job cleaning the walls.

Here are some awesome looking murals:

10. Make your own art with wood trim
Wood trim becomes art / Wood accent wall living room
If you have a saw, a hammer, tape measure, and leftover wood trim (or you buy it) you can make awesome accent walls in a guest room, children’s room, or dining room, or actually in any room where you have an empty wall and don’t know what to do.
Especially if you paint the wood trim the same way as the wall, it looks very interesting.
And here is how you start.
- Try out some different patterns on a piece of paper
- Get your wood trim accordingly to your demand
- Hold the wood trim on the wall to see if you like it (if you can manage)
- Then start finding your studs and nail the first wood trim on your wall according to your pattern.
- Make sure you have a set square to draw the correct angle on the wood trim and
- Saw it carefully to make it fit right.
- Paint the wood the same color as your wall.
There are a lot of interesting patterns on Pinterest. Just scroll around if you can’t make up your mind on a pattern for your room.
Just one tip from me if you don’t have a lot of patience, start with an easy-to-make pattern. You have to measure every single angle to make it fit right, so don’t make it too complicated.
3 clues on which wall should be the accent wall?
Actually, it is pretty easy to find out:
- When entering a room, which wall draws your first attention? Where do you look at first? This should be your accent wall.
- Which wall do you face most of the time when sitting in your living room? This wall could also be your accent wall.
- Your accent wall should be somehow symmetrical, without different size windows or built-ins you actually want to hide because you don’t like the look.
Now if you want to draw the attention away from the ‘natural’ accent wall, just create a new one by adding a fireplace, built-in bookcases, or painting a wall a stunning color.
