Thanksgiving Table Decorations DIY
I love Thanksgiving. I love it because every year we are traveling from the Carolinas to New York, to visit Jonathen’s family. We don’t really see the family during the year. So when Thanksgiving comes around, we are so happy to see all of them, at least for a weekend. It is one of my best weekends, because everybody is relaxed and happy and is just enjoying each others company.
And because the family in New York is of Greek origin – more specific from Cyprus -, there is a lot of food on the table. No matter what you eat, it is delicious. Some American food combined with a lot of special and so delicious Greek food, a lot to drink of course and a lot of music and dance. We are so grateful for these special moments.
Beautiful Thanksgiving Table Decorations
And because Thanksgiving is just around the corner, I am sure the family is already discussing what will be on the menu. The house is always decorated so nicely and of course the dining table looks fantastic.
I collected some beautiful Thanksgiving Table Decorations for you to check out. Here are my favorites:
I love the idea to spray paint the pumpkins for a more elegant and discrete table decoration. I don’t mind orange and brown, but sometimes it just doesn’t fit into a muted dining room.
Whites and the little sparkles of gold and silver with the fresh greens are just an amazing combination.
This is how to change a pumpkin color:
Of course I am already spray painting my pumpkins like crazy. It is pretty easy to do.
- Use a spray paint primer first
- let dry
- and then spray the color of your choice.
If you don’t like to spray paint, you can also use chalk paint.
You might have some left over chalk paint from other projects or just buy small cans. You can always use them again for other projects.
Or just make your own pumpkins.
It is a fun activity with the whole family and they look just great. And here is how to make them: 10 easy steps How to make concrete pumpkins DIY
These are some simple and but so beautiful plate decorations. If you have big bushes of rosemary or thyme in your backyard, use it to decorate the plates. Write a small name card and decorate it with a branch of thyme or some leaves you find in your garden.
No need to buy anything, everything can be found in the nature.
Looking for simple but beautiful napkin rings? How about those gorgeous rosemary wreaths?
Here is one of the best ideas I found on Pinterest: If you have a lot of guests coming and you need more tables but don’t have enough table clothes:
Use paper clothes and write your guests names on it. If you have a beautiful handwriting it can look pretty amazing. I just love the simple and cheap idea with the personal touch on it.
Be creative and write a special note to everybody or draw something on it. Maybe your kids want to paint or draw on it, there are a lot of different ways to make it yours.
This is my Thanksgiving Decoration which I have made during a short afternoon. I painted a leftover wooden board in a teal color – same color as my dining room chairs. I bought the little pumpkins and spray painted them silver. The greens are from a bush in my backyard.
I love to use ivory and some of my last roses fit well to add a little color to this decoration. So whatever you have available in your backyard works. Add a candle or two and done. Didn’t even cost 10 $.
These pumpkins are painted with chalk paint and look just stunning. Love the colors and the arrangement on the board.
Did I say chalk paint? Yes of course chalk boards can be used everywhere. I exchanged a closet door with a flat slab door and painted it with chalk paint. This is usually my reminder board for the family members.
For Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter I use it to welcome guests or write notes on it:
There are so many more ideas to make and to use a chalkboard. I love the idea to have a chalk board in a beautiful frame. Use it to welcome your guests, draw on it, write your menu on it, whatever you feel like doing, you can use it for almost everything.
