21 ultimate bucket list ideas you need to know about
Aren’t we all happy that this year is over? Who would have thought that we had to go into a lockdown, that travel would be restricted, and who knew what social distancing actually meant?

Well, I learned a lot this last year, some things were pretty bad but some things turned out pretty good for us.
- There were almost no business trips in 2020 and a lot of time to think about the job.
- Almost no distractions from our lives, no parties, no stress organizing events, and enough time to sort stuff out.
- Plenty of time to sort through thoughts, new ideas, and new dreams.
- Making an adventure bucket list for us with the most important things to do.
- Resetting many ideas we had.

Best Bucket List Adventures for the New Year – just take the RV and travel to the most amazing National Parks, State Parks, and cities. If you don’t own one, rent one. Or enjoy a nice drive down Highway 1 in a convertible.
- San Francisco is a must-see. Not only seeing this beautiful city (or taking the tram) has to be on your bucket list but also walking over the Golden Gate Bridge. If you have time, go to Muir Woods and enjoy the Redwoods also.
- Drive down Highway 1 and take a break at Malibu beach for a quick swim. Stop at one of the restaurants for a drink and enjoy the view. We started our road trip in San Francisco, Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, the Hearst Castle, Santa Barbara. Definitely take some time in Santa Barbara, take a stroll through the vibrant city.
- Stop somewhere at the Oregon Coast and take a walk on the beach, collect shells, and listen to the waves. Select one of the many trails. “Most of the route is on the beach, although some segments wind through state parks or public lands. Generous landowners provide trail easements for portions of the trail on private property. About 10 percent of the trail is on the shoulders of U.S. 101, county roads, and city streets.”
- Joshua Tree National Park is awesome to visit in the fall. The temperatures are bearable and you can enjoy many hikes, climbing boulders, or picking your favorite Joshua Tree. This National Park is so inspiring and spiritual and a must-see.
- Charleston, SC will charm you and you will fall in love instantly with this city. The cobblestone streets, the US history you want to learn all about, and of course the food. Not only is it an amazing foodie destination (think Oysters) but really a great vacation spot for the whole family!
- Stop in Asheville, NC and drink a beer or two in one of the really good breweries, take a stroll through the artistry city, and don’t forget to take a drive through the Blue Ridge Mountains. This drive is also very enjoyable in a convertible – breath the fresh air and enjoy all the views.
- San Diego, CA is the best city to visit all year round. Book a sightseeing tour with a tram, drive to the Coronado, and have a drink at the Del, eat the best Italian food in Little Italy.
- Go to Death Valley in winter and watch the sunrise at Zabriskie Point, drive along the Artist Palette, take a walk in the Sand Dunes and Badwater Basin, and don’t forget to watch the stars.
- Stop in the middle of nowhere and have a picnic.
- Watch dolphins and smell the seagulls in San Simeon State Park, CA.
- Make a campfire dinner with your family anywhere you want to.
- Take a shower under a waterfall.
- Cross 2 state lines in one day.
- Bring a bag and pick up trash whenever you walk the beach.
- Watch the sunset in Miami, Florida, have a cocktail at Ocean Drive, see the murals in Wynwood walls.
- Take a hike in the Grand Canyon National Park. The Grand Canyon is certainly an iconic destination in the USA, it’s simply breathtaking. Hike down into the Canyon all the way, or just a mile, or take a guided tour. Or take the helicopter or a boat tour through the canyon.
- Buy a souvenir in the Flagstaff Mall, Arizona. Visit Coconino National Forest, Lowell Observatory, or go skiing at the Arizona Snowbowl.
- Watch the wild horses Assateague’s Wild Horses in Virginia.
- Visit Long Island, NY after the summer break and enjoy vineyards and cozy restaurants and shops. I love the vibe of the Hamptons, having a glass of wine on the beach and watching the sunset.
- Tour Napa Valley from vineyard to vineyard and enjoy the scenery, enjoy the Oxbow markets, bicycle all over the island, or take the wine train.
- Go to Maui and take a surf lesson, or rent a car and drive the road to Hana. Enjoy every moment of this beautiful island, taste the food, and see all the miracles Maui has to offer.

Where do you want to travel to?
It is important that we still look at the bright side of life, no matter how bad everything is right now. Take the positive out of everything and keep on moving, don’t give up on your dreams, now is the best time to decide what is best for you, which direction you want to go, what is important for you, and which sites do you want to visit, where do you want to travel to, do you want to learn a new hobby or skill?

Make a bucket list of what is important in your life
Make a bucket list. Listen to yourself and make a to-do list for the next months. What is important for you? Set priorities.
Review the year and write down how are things going for you:
- how are your health and fitness?
- how do you feel mentally?
- how are your finances?
- how is your relationship working?
- how is the connection with your family?
Anything you would like to change? Anything you need to clarify with friends and family to make you feel better?
The best thing to do is to write down all your thoughts and make a plan for how to change, update, reduce things that are not going well for you.
- What went bad, what went o.k., and what went great?
- What do you want to change?
- Where do you want to start making a change?
We were lucky and kept our jobs through the pandemic. During most of this year all of the shops were closed, most of the restaurants shut down, we work from our Home Office. Although these aren’t good things, because I don’t like to be at home 24/7, we were able to save a junk of money.
Therefore, our savings plan made it possible for us to go on many travels throughout the year.
If you have a dream, start saving money. Set your goal, stop going shopping for unnecessary things, just buy the groceries you need after you have made a meal plan, and stick to your shopping list. It is unbelievable how much money you can save if you just buy the necessities and cook your own meals instead of ordering food and eating out.
And within short time you have enough money to buy an RV or fulfill one of your bucket list dreams.

We took the Camper on many trips this year. Wine tasting in Paso Robles, visiting Joshua Tree National Park, driving up Highway #1, staying in San Simeon National Park, and driving through Death Valley are just some of the few trips. It was never so important for us to be able to travel with the Camper than in 2020.

Buying a Camper was the best thing we did
We didn’t know it would be a lifesaver when we bought our Travel Trailer a couple of years ago. We bought it because of our dog Apache so we could bring her with us on our travels. And of course, we also love the freedom we get from owning a Camper. Often, we don’t even book a campsite a long time in advance, we decide on Thursday and leave on Friday for a long weekend.
This is how our Camper looked when we bought it:

And this is how our Camper looks now. I love to remodel and make things pretty again. It looks so much better now.
So if you want to feel good while traveling all over the country, get a Camper in good working condition. Just inform yourself what to check before you buy a used one.
If your Camper looks like ours before I remodeled it, get all the tips you need to update it fast and on a budget. It is not so difficult if you know what kind of material to use, where to start and how to do it.

Set a goal for yourself
Set a goal for all the things you want to do in the next year
Write them down and pin it somewhere where you can see them all the time:
- Set a big goal for longterm
- set a medium goal that you can reach within the next months
- set a short-term goal that you can reach within the next few weeks or days.
Don’t forget to set a deadline for your goals, by when do you want to achieve your goal? A date is important in order to stay on track. Without setting a date it is just an idea. Set a fixed timeframe when you want to be there and write it down.
You need a deadline for your goals, otherwise, it is just a wish, an idea, a thought. Make it happen, you never know when you get the next chance.

21 ultimate bucket list ideas for 2021 you need to know
Have you started a bucket list for the coming year already? A bucket list can also be made for new hobbies, skills, and goals:
How about learning an instrument? Do you want to learn how to knit? Or do you want to remodel your house and want to learn how to paint, how to add wallpaper, or add new floors? Or how about gardening? Grow your own vegetables, plant flowers, or add a whirlpool in your backyard and enjoy it during cool summer nights. Go thrift shopping and make old things new and sell them.
Create new easy habits
From the moment you wake up until you go to bed you are led by routines. Check your daily routines and decide if you want to change one.
How do you start your morning?
Maybe you want to add a new routine before breakfast (exercise) or after breakfast (go for a long walk).
While the coffee is brewing learn some simple yoga exercises to strengthen your core.
Start by making a meal plan
Decide on at least 3 days a week without eating meat. Search for new recipes on Pinterest, and start eating more healthily. Make a meal plan for the whole week and go shopping once a week for ingredients.
Too much screen time?
Set a time when you turn on the TV. Decide on the shows you want to watch and stop having the TV run all day. Watch your favorite show and then turn the TV off. With the time you saved, you can now invest in learning a new hobby.
What makes you happy? What brings a smile to your face?
Learn a new hobby, crafting, gardening, rescue pets, a new sport, ride the bike more, do you want to do voluntary work? Teach something? Do you love to be around kids and teenagers? Check the internet for ideas that fit you, your time, and your desire.
Choose one new habit which is easy to add to your daily routine and stick to it for at least one month. After one month this habit is already a routine.
Tell your friends what you are changing in your daily routine. Maybe one wants to join you on your walks?

Create a savings plan
We started by making bucket lists. You need to set amounts and decide on how much money you need to realize your plans.
Then decide on how you can achieve it. How much money do you need to save into your buckets? Start today by checking through your finances. Set limits on:
- grocery shopping
- eating out, getting take-out food
- buying clothes
- online shopping
It is always a good start by looking through all of your stuff first. Check through your pantry, through your closets, and through drawers. Use everything first before buying new and save the money into your buckets.
Declutter to get an overview of what you have in your closets. For all the things you don’t need or use, you can sell on FB Marketplace or eBay. Save the money into your buckets. The less you have the easier you have to manage and keep clean and organized.
Detox your life
Get rid of things that are bad for you. A person, food, a practice, a possession, whatever it is that makes you feel bad. Get rid of all the negativity around you, delete it, and replace it with something positive.
Live a clutter-free life and organize your home, your RV, and learn to live with less stuff. This is real freedom and should be on top of your bucket list. Try it.
