Simple and easy Christmas Decorations
Best tips on how to make simple and easy Christmas decorations for your home
I actually love looking at colorful and overloaded Christmas Decorations in other peoples houses, but I don’t know why, I don’t love it in my own house. The simpler the decoration is, the more I like it.
Also, I like to make the Christmas decorations myself because I love different and funky little things around me, not just the ordinary decorations you can buy everywhere.

Even though I love glitter and lot’s of lights and bling and colorful decorations, for me Christmas decoration has to be reduced, simple and calm. But this is my own taste, not saying colorful and loud is bad.
As I said, I love to look at crazy blinking decorations too, the more colors the better. Just not in my house for Christmas.
If you have the same feeling about Christmas decorations than me, I have collected all these wonderful and simple DIY ideas.
They are definitely not overloading your living room. Look for yourself.
Here are my top 8 decorating ideas DIY:
1. Make beautiful wreaths:
You can find a lot of useful branches, berries, different kinds of ivory out in nature, why not use it and make wreaths out of it?
Pretty easy to do if you have the right material. I love the idea of a branch with all the wreaths hanging down from it or if you don’t like wreaths, hang other treasures the branch.

2. Decorate branches
If you don’t have a lot of space, this is the perfect idea to get into the Christmas spirit without a tree.
Go out in the woods and get some branches, bigger or smaller, depends on the space you have available. Put them in a nice container or vase and decorate them with colorful or neutral Christmas decorations. Depends on your taste. You can also spray paint the branches if you like it all in one color. Looks amazing.

3. Stars
Make a focal point in your room out of stars. Hang them over your dining room table or in front of your window. I bought these star lamp shades last year at Ikea. They were pretty inexpensive and look wonderful. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50408935/

4. Wooden trees
If you have some DIY talent and a saw and a hammer, this is a great idea for decorating your front yard. From leftover wood, you can make some really nice looking X-mas trees.
Paint them colorful or spray paint them with white and silver or leave them all-natural. Your choice.

5. Metal trees
I am not saying that you can make them yourself (maybe you can?). But I saw these metal trees on a flea market and I instantly fell in love with them. It is something different if you like different.
Also, if you don’t have a lot of space in your living room, this tree doesn’t need a lot of space. And it can be used every year, that saves you some dollars.
They can also be decorated with lights, but I prefer placing a lot of candles around the tree and then let it shine as simple as it is.
Of course, the other option is to decorate your front yard with the metal tree and add a lot of lights to it.
6. Decorating your fireplace
I found a lot of ideas to decorate your fireplace. Love the rustic feeling of wood and the simple and color reduced decoration. The deer antler with the wreath around it and the branch with all the little items hanging from it looks great. And again, use a branch and hang your favorite decorating items on it. Make it your own and enjoy the look of it.
Also, a good idea is to get a metal or wood ring and just decorate half of it. Add some small X-mas decor and hang it over your fireplace mantel. Looks great.

7. Make your own tree
If you have limited space, try this option with branches and thin metal wire. Use hot-glue to glue your ornaments onto the branches and decorate with a light string and voila`, here is your Christmas Tree. Love it.
Or another space-saving tip is to get yourself a garland, Christmas lights, and some ornaments and use small nails or pins to form a Christmas tree.
Easy, cheap and so pretty to do especially if you don’t have a lot of space.

Or another idea could be to paint your own tree. Yes, I love it.
Get a piece of Plywood (I always have leftovers from some kind of renovation) and paint the board white. And then just draw an easy Christmas tree with a pencil on the board and paint it in whatever color you would like. Green or teal fits well. Decorate it with stars and hang it up inside or outside of your house, add some candles and your Christmas decoration is ready to go.
8. Decorate your candle holders and dining table
If you have a backyard with a lot of berries or herbs, use them for making little wreaths for your candle holders. Love this idea and it is great for decorating the Christmas table with good smelling thyme wreaths or berry wreaths. Use the thyme wreaths for your napkins or just for decorating the plates.

Depending on your style, there are a lot of ideas on how to decorate your home reduced, without a lot of bling bling and colors. The best decorations are the ones you make yourself out of natural resources.
The simplest way of course is to use a lot of candles, place them on a pretty tray and decorate it with small fir branches. Fits every style and doesn’t cost a lot of money.
9. Make your own candle holders
Make them simple and easy out of concrete. Spray paint or paint them, add a pattern or a stencil and decorate them in a group on your table or fireplace mantel.
Or, if you need little presents for colleagues and neighbors, this is also a great idea.
