14 Camping Accessories (Ultimate List of almost necessary Camping essentials)
We were camping in Palm Springs when we got hit by heavy winds in the middle of the night. This was totally scary to me. Our RV was parked under trees in a shady spot which seemed to be perfect, but during the wind storm, it wasn’t. Lots of branches fell on the roof of the camper and it was totally necessary to check the next day if we had some kind of issues with the Camper. This is why we start with a ladder:
Let’s start with the first Camper necessity:
A ladder comes in pretty handy when you have to check the roof while you are on the road. Furthermore, I often read recommendations for a slide cover, but if you have a ladder and a broom or a leaf blower, just clean off the roof of the slide before you bring it in.
Telescopic ladder, lightweight
Therefore this is my first nice-to-have item:
Portable Ice maker
Do you like to have a drink or two once in a while or like to drink cold beverages? You NEED an ice maker. This Igloo one is pretty good and lots of my Camper friends use it as well. And it is doesn’t require a lot of counter space.
Or the cheaper version if you are looking for a more affordable ice maker:
Cooler
We always bring a cooler with us for additional drinks or easy access in the car. We love the Igloo and the Yeti, it is just a personal choice:
Blackstone gas griddle
If you don’t have an outdoor kitchen and hate cooking inside your camper, you might want to check out this gas griddle. Makes perfect hamburgers and steaks.
I am recommending buying the Blackstone with a lid, which makes storing so much easier.
And here is the adapter for a 17 and 22″ griddle:
If you need a table for your grill or griddle, this one is really a good one to have. This grilling rack is one of the best outdoor grilling tables which unfolds in seconds. This table is very sturdy and can tolerate up to 35 lbs. It is excellent to be used as an outdoor kitchen station with foldable racks, a mesh rack and a locked tabletop.
And you can’t beat the price either.
Washing machine
If you are on the road for a long time and don’t feel like wasting time in a laundromat, get one of these portable washing machines, total time and money savers:
Must have travel trailer items
Portable Fire Pit
What is camping without a campfire? Not great, something is missing, right? On some campsites you are not allowed to have an open campfire, therefore using a gas fire pit is the alternative. And a nice side effect is that you don’t need to wash all your clothes due to the smell of smoke.
What every RV should have for a better sleep:

This topper is perfect for more comfort and has a great cooling effect.
14 nice to have accessories for your Camper/RV:
Awning lights
How pretty does it look when you sit outside at night and the awning is decorated with lights. So romantic. It is also nice not to sit in complete darkness while enjoying the outdoors.
RV essentials checklist:
Bug Zapper
How annoying if you want to sip on your drink, enjoy the peaceful night, and all of a sudden you are hunted down by mosquitos. Flies can ruin a perfect night outside, therefore besides using off Spray, this will definitely help to keep your sanity:
The Thermacell Patio Shield Mosquito Repeller effectively repels mosquitoes by creating a 15-foot zone of protection. This compact, easy-to-use, and stylish device looks great and many Campers recommend it. So if you are going to an area with many mosquitos and you want to sit outside at night, try this for your sanity:
- No spray and no mess. Scent-free and DEET-free.
- Same proven Thermacell fuel-powered technology, in a compact and stylish design for patios, decks, and more
- Ideal for use while entertaining.
- No open flame, no smoky candles
Bird Feeder
Do you enjoy watching birds? Get a bird feeder and binoculars and watch these pretty creatures while you feed them. This is also a good way of occupying kids for some time.
RV kitchen must-have:
Keurig Coffee Maker
No matter where you are, starting your day with a good cup of coffee is almost essential. If you have the space in your cabinets, get a Keurig and your day will start with great-tasting coffee.
Fan
During really hot days and nights, when the AC is working on the limit, a nice cool breeze is so essential to survive inside the Camper.
I use a fan with light and remote control in my camper and I can hook it up wherever I need it.
If you are thinking about winter camping you might want to invest in an additional heater to stay warm.
Solar Lights
Solar lights are always good to have, especially if you have to walk the dog at night. Being aware of obstacles or just having a safe way back to the Camper at night is a good thing.
Cool light for the kids’ bunker beds because it changes the light color and it has a remote control. Kids love it.
A comfortable rocking chair is a definite necessity if you want to be comfortable.
Outdoor fun – 14 Nice-to-have camping accessories (Ultimate List of necessary Camping essentials)
Hanging Chair, Sky Chair
Want to have a little fun for yourself and the kids? I can spend hours in my hanging chair and just float around, read a book or take a nap. How wonderful doing nothing.
Hammock
And a hammock is even more comfortable than a hanging chair. This one is so easy to hang up and to enjoy and easy to store in your RV.
Games, Volleyball, Balls, Frisbee
If you like a little action and fun in between relaxing, a good Frisbee match or Volleyball on the beach is a great way of staying active and having fun.
Internet Booster
Improve the performance of your mobile broadband devices when indoors or in fringe zones with this portable antenna, covering a wide band spectrum (700MHz to 2600MHz). Connect this to your cellular hotspot and you will most likely increase the range and have a better signal.
…and while you are on the road and the kids are complaining it is too hot, how about a car fan?
